Le Havre is a port city located in the northwest of France, on the right bank of the Seine estuary, in the Normandy region. Founded in 1517 by King Francis I, it is now the second largest commercial port in France. The city was extensively rebuilt after World War II by architect Auguste Perret, earning it a UNESCO World Heritage designation. Le Havre is also known for its beach, its hanging gardens, and its André Malraux Museum of Modern Art.
